Each year, the Fyssen Foundation funds around thirty international researchers through its postdoctoral fellowship program.

Post-doctoral study grants

Study grants are ment for post-doctoral researchers, working on research disciplines such as Ethology, Paleontology, Archaeology, Anthropology, Psychology, Epistemology, Logic and  Sciences of nervous system.

 

These grants are awarded to french or foreign researchers, holders of a foreign Phd and who wish to achieve their project in a Laboratory in France; or either french or foreign researchers holders of a french Phd who wish to achieve their project in a Laboratory abroad (excluded co-tutorship country)

 

  •  Start its first post-doctoral fellowship with this financial support.
  • If the recipient has already reached its host lab, he should be settled for no more than 3 monthsmaximum at the date of September 1st, 2026.
  • Be 35 year old maximum on the closing day of the call.
  • Be a holder of a Phd of less than two years on September 1st of the year of application, or achieve its viva thesis on December 31st of the year of application at the latest. The applicant should have achieved its PhD before starting the fellowship.
  • Regarding the host laboratories located in France : the recipient hosted within a framework of a fixed-term contract will have to make sure that a convention of co-financing can be signed between the Foundation and the laboratory to reach the level of the gross salary.

 

These grants, of an annual maximum amount of 45 000 euros, intend to cover expenses of hosting, stay and health insurance.

Grants are allocated from 12 months, not renewable, or 24 months

subject to the approval of the Scientific commitee after examination of a report at the end of first year.

The Post doctoral fellowship will start on September 1st of the application year the earliest and at the latest on January of the following year.

The applicant has to create its own login.

No, there is none.

The post doctoral project may start on September 1st, 2026 the earliest, and on very beginning of January 2027 the latest.

Yes, the project may be drafted in english.

Yes, he may add one or several recommendation’s letters .

Yes , he has to provide two invitation letters mentioning the date and duration of its stay.

They should be drafted either in french or in english. In case of another language it should be posted with a translation in French or in English.

Any personality who wishes to transmit a letter (dated and signed) may send it either by post, or by email (to secretariat@fondationfyssen.fr). In any case all documents should be received BEFORE the deadline of the call.

You will have to add a letter from your thesis director certifying your viva will be achieved before December 31st, 2026.

You may add or delete any document before the final validation of your folder.
Once clicked, you will not have access to your folder anymore and shall have to contact the Foundation in case of a mistake and send us the document to be replaced.

No. The host laboratory must not be French if you defended your thesis in France, even if it is located in another country.
